Miles provides biographical snapshots of nine powerhouse women tennis players, some retired, but most of whom are currently at the top of their game. The book provides biographical sketches and full-page, color photos of many of the top players, including Serena Williams Serena Jameka Williams, (born September 26, 1981) is an American former World No. 1 ranked female tennis player who has won eight Grand Slam singles titles and an Olympic gold medal in women's doubles.[1].  and Venus Williams Venus Ebone Starr Williams (born June 17, 1980 in Lynwood, California) is an American professional tennis player. She has been ranked the world's No. 1 female tennis player. As of July 2007, she is the reigning Wimbledon ladies' singles champion. . She's also included articles with information not commonly known about the players.

Did you know that both Venus and Serena Williams speak French? The sketches also include information about the players awesome skills, what makes them the ones to beat, how they made it, and what they do to remain at the top of their game.

Although at any one time there are 20 top players, this book only includes nine of the great women in tennis. Miles' volume may have had wider appeal had she included other phenomenal players, like Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, Conchita Martinez or Mary Pierce. Still, this is a book that will inspire children, especially African American African American Multiculture A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa. See Race.  girls (and boys!) initially inspired by the Williams sisters' reign, to follow their dreams and become major forces to be reckoned with in the sports arena.
