On Thursday, September 9, 1999 at 6:00 p.m., at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, 23 Women and Minority business owners will graduate from an intense 11 week entrepreneur business training class.

"These graduates come from diverse industries, geographic areas and cultural backgrounds, as a whole representing the renewed spirit of education, cooperation, and diversity tolerance which is once again becoming the trademark of business in Los Angeles and Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, ," said VEDC Business Training Manager, Pamela Carson.

The goal of this program is to:

1. Substantially improve the success of existing business owners.

2. Assist existing associations who represent woman and minority owned businesses to strengthen their presence in the community while increasing their community's access to training.

This is a program fully funded by the Merrill Lynch Foundation and delivered by the Valley Economic Development Center (VEDC). The VEDC is a non-profit economic development company with a successful track record in business assistance since 1978.
