Canon Alice Medcof, the new coordinator of the International Anglican Women's Network (LAWN) and Annette Graydon, the Canadian link to LAWN, have been appointed by Archbishop Andrew Hutchison, primate of the Anglican Church of Canada The Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada (referred to in older documents as the Primate of All Canada) is elected by the General Synod of the Church from among a list of five bishops nominated by the House of Bishops. , to join women around the world as members of the Anglican Consultative Council The Anglican Consultative Council or ACC is one of the four "Instruments of Communion" of the Anglican Communion. Ms. Medcof, who was appointed in 2003 by Canon John L. Peterson, secretary general of the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC), is urging Canadians to get involved with LAWN, which provides women with a voice at the ACC and the Lambeth Conference of Bishops.

"Stories of women who live with the constant threat of HIV/AIDS HIV/AIDS Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome , the devastation of war, the curse of hunger, and the ever-present danger of drought or flooding, need to be told and heard, for this is the reality that many women face daily in the Anglican Communion," said the LAWN Web site, www.iawn.org.
