Women's conference scheduled for November.

Women leaders from throughout the State of California will assemble in response to "A Call To Action"--Governor Pete Wilson's conference for women on November 19, 1992 at the Marriott Hotel in Anaheim.

Recognizing that women play a critical role in the social, economic and cultural development of California, Governor Wilson has urged that the conference provide a forum for important mentoring relationships where successful women leaders will share their solutions and systems for career, business, personal and professional growth.

"Your contributions in helping build a strong, ethnically diverse society--in the workplace, the home and our communities represent the spirit and purpose that have been the foundation of California's success. It is my hope that this conference will serve to reinforce the mechanism for women's networking in California," Wilson said.

According to Rosalie Zalis, Governor Wilson's senior policy advisor on women's issues and project director for the conference, the non-partisan forum features more than 90 professional women and celebrity speakers who will lead more than 40 discussions, focus groups, and panels.

"From estate planning and global export financing to physical fitness and how to publish a book, our workshops are indicative of our conference goal to involve all women and all issues that affect women's lives. We believe the outcome of this 'Call To Action' can be improved lifestyles for women and as a result, a better state," Zalis said.

Featured speakers at the one-day conference include Dr. Nancy Snyderman, medical correspondent with KPIX-TV News, San Francisco, and guest host of ABC-TV's "Good Morning America." Snyderman, who has received national acclaim for her reporting on women's health issues, will give the keynote address at the conference luncheon.

The program will begin with opening remarks by California Commerce Director Julie Meier Wright, U.S. Small Business Administration Regional Administrator Oscar Wright, First Lady Gayle Wilson, and best selling author Iris Dart (Beaches). Governor Wilson will address the conference at its luncheon session, and Mary Hart, host of "Entertainment Tonight" will emcee the luncheon program.

Speakers at the workshops and panel discussions include: USC law professor Susan Estrich and former campaign manager for Dukakis for President; Dr. Frances Conley, Stanford University School of Medicine; Jon Goodman, Director of the Entrepreneur Program for the University of Southern California; Dr. Lee Hausner, internationally renowned psychologist; Dr. Judith Rosener, UC Graduate School of Management; Linda Woolverton, Academy-award winning screen-writer of "Beauty and the Beast"; Linda DiVall, GOP political strategist; Linda Breakstone, political editor of KABC-TV News, Los Angeles; Cathleen Decker, featured political writer with the Los Angeles Times; and Dr. Laura Schlessinger, KFI-Radio talk show host and psychologist who will be recording her show live from the conference.

The non-partisan conference will also feature a tabletop and exhibition designed for educational and informational purposes on a wide range of products, services and systems tailored to women's needs in employment, child care, fitness, health and education. Conference attendees are invited to bring a copy of their personal resume for a free consultation with career planners.

The table top exhibition features financial planners, insurance providers, accountants, computer suppliers, sales professionals, marketing consultants, community leaders and activists offering ideas for career, business, personal and professional growth. In addition, an on-site child care facility is being planned for use by conference attendees.
