Women's funding not for advocacy.


Representatives of women's groups were told that new federal guidelines guidelines,

Funds deposited to regional Federal Reserve Banks by commercial banks, including funds in excess of reserve requirements.

These non-interest bearing deposits are lent out at the Fed funds rate to other banks unable to meet overnight reserve
. This was stated by Beverly Oda, the Minister Responsible for Status of Women.

Oda also stated that the federal government has no intention of reversing a 5 million dollar cut to the Status of Women's Council.
