Women's High-Tech Coalition and California Women's Caucus Join Forces to Bring Together Powerful California Women.


ATHERTON, Calif. -- The Women's High-Tech Coalition (WHTC WHTC Washington-Holmes Technical Center (Chipley, FL, USA)

) and the California Women's Caucus are partnering to sponsor a Silicon Valley-based reception aimed at bringing together powerful high-tech executives and state-wide elected officials to participate in a bi-partisan open dialogue covering issues vital to the high-tech industry and the state of California.

The event, planned for Thursday, May 11, at the Atherton home of publisher and well-known philanthropist Jillian-Manus Salzman and her husband's firm Vantage Point Venture Partners, will kick off at 4:30pm with a VIP roundtable discussion and end with a 5:30 to 7:30pm reception.

Throughout the evening, legislators will have the opportunity to speak briefly. They are expected to discuss issues that are important to the Silicon Valley tech community. Environmental regulations, RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) A data collection technology that uses electronic tags for storing data. The tag, also known as an "electronic label," "transponder" or "code plate," is made up of an RFID chip attached to an antenna.  policy, the infrastructure, tax policy, healthcare and childcare issues are among some of the anticipated topics.

Kehoe (born October 3, 1950 in Troy, New York) is a California State Senator representing the 39th district that includes the San Diego county communities of City Heights, Clairemont, Del Mar, Emerald Hills, Encanto, Hillcrest, Kearny Mesa, La Jolla, Lemon Grove Linda  (D-San Diego), chair of the California Women's Caucus. "We are joining powerful forces that go beyond political parties and typical Northern/Southern California boundaries to address topics that are vital to our future."

"Bringing together this group of leaders ensures that the interests of women stay in the forefront of our discussions," added Senator Elaine Alquist Elaine White Alquist (born 1944) is currently a Democratic State Senator from California's 13th Senate District. She has been in office since December of 2004. She succeeded John Vasconcellos and Vasconcellos had succeeded Alquist's husband, the late Al Alquist who represented this  (D-San Jose). "The technology community and the State of California are thereby working together in the best way possible through this collaborative effort."

Confirmed to attend include Senators Elaine Alquist, Christine Kehoe, Carole Migden Carole Migden represents the third district in the California State Senate. The Third State Senate district covers parts of San Francisco, all of Marin County and parts of Sonoma County.  and Assemblymembers Rebecca Cohn Rebecca Cohn was the California State Assembly member for the 24th district from 2000 to 2006. Her district included Buena Vista, Burbank, Cambrian Park, Campbell, Saratoga, Fruitdale, unincorporated parts of Santa Clara County, and parts of San Jose and Santa Clara [1]. , Bonnie Garcia Bonnie Garcia (R-Cathedral City) is the representative of California's 80th Assembly District, serving eastern Riverside County and all of Imperial County.

Assemblywoman Garcia was elected to the post in 2002, becoming both the first Latina to represent the district and the
, Sally Lieber and Gloria Negrete-McLeod. Female executives representing Cisco Systems, Apple Computer, Johnson and Johnson, Solectron, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. WHTC is a bi-partisan, non-profit group Chaired by Congresswomen Lofgren (D-SJ) and Congresswoman Emerson (R-MO). Its mission is to provide a forum for education, analysis and dialogue with leaders in business and government. Its first event in Silicon Valley was held at the home of Autodesk's CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Carol Bartz and included 200 other women CEOs, entrepreneurs, executives and industry leaders, including Carly Fiorina (then CEO of HP), Sue Bostrom (VP, Cisco) and Ellen Hancock (Former CEO, Exodus). Today, the group has grown to nearly 400 executive members. Policy makers including Senator Barbara Boxer, Congresswomen Anna Eshoo, Congresswomen Mary Bono, Treasury Secretary Snow and Senator Hillary Clinton, among others, have spoken at and attended WHTC events. Events are held each year in a variety of locations across the U.S. including Washington D.C., New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 and the Silicon Valley.
