Woman indicted in Craigslist hit ad case

A woman had been indicted on federal charges that accuse her of placing an ad on Craigslist that solicited the murder of her lover's wife.

Ann Marie Linscott, 48, of Rockford, Mich., was arrested two weeks ago after she placed the online ad.

The indictment alleges Linscott used e-mails to solicit three people who responded to her posting for "freelance" work and that she offered $5,000 for the hit.

The indictment issued Wednesday lists three counts of using interstate commerce — the Internet — with the intent of seeking to kill the woman. Each count carries a maximum of 10 years in prison.

Linscott's Michigan-based attorney, David Kaczor, did not return a telephone call Thursday from The Associated Press seeking comment.

The man and Linscott started a relationship two years ago while both were enrolled in an online college course, according to the indictment. They had a rendezvous in Reno, Nev., and near the man's hometown of Oroville, north of Sacramento.
