Woman denies phoning in fake hijacking

A woman has pleaded not guilty to phoning in a bogus hijacking to stop a man from flying from Los Angeles to his wedding in Egypt.

Prosecutors say Susan Monica Kriss called authorities in August, saying the flight would be hijacked. The so-called hijacker turned out to be a man Kriss says is her boyfriend — which he disputes.

Kriss was already in state custody facing stalking charges when she was charged last month with violating the federal false information and hoaxes law.

Kriss is currently free on $35,000 bail.

Her attorney, John Passanante, could not immediately be reached for comment.
