Wolters Kluwer acquires UIS & Accounting Assets.

Wolters Kluwer North America (WKNA; Chicago, IL) has acquired Uniform Information Services (UIS; Acton, MA), a provider of electronic and print forms and regulatory databases for the property and casualty insurance industry. UIS will become a part of WKNA division CCH, Inc. (Riverwoods, IL). No terms were given.

UIS produces more than 20,000 standard and custom print and electronic forms for property and casualty companies. Its products include "ComplianceWare," a set of subscription databases covering regulatory compliance for the consumer finance and insurance industries. UIS had 2001 fiscal year revenues of $11.6 million and has 61 employees.

UIS will be merged into CCH's Business and Finance Group, which includes NILS Publishing, a provider of U.S. insurance law and regulatory information. WKNA said the combination of NILS and UIS will enable the companies to offer a "full suite of compliance products for the insurance market," including research databases, forms and workflow tools. The "ComplianceWare" product line will be integrated into the CHH banking product line.

In related news, Wolters Kluwer has acquired ABC Professional Information (London), the publishing arm of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. No terms were given.

ABG, which will become a part of Kluwer's Croner.CCH (London) unit, produces publications for the audit, accountancy and assurance fields in both print and electronic formats. Assets include Accountancy, a monthly magazine with a paid circulation of 61,000 accountants, and a range of looseleaf services, newsletters, CD-ROMs, manuals and books. ABC also' produces continuing education events and seminars. The company had 2001 sales of EUR 22 million.
