With $20,000 from the Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications, the Community College of Baltimore County is stepping up efforts to attract and retain students in its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program.

With $20,000 from the Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications, the Community College of Baltimore County is stepping up efforts to attract and retain students in its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program. Funding from Verizon will help provide educational opportunities to low-income students and promote full-time enrollment and degree attainment in the STEM disciplines. The college will award 20 $1,000 STEM scholarships to help cover tuition and fees. Eligible students must be enrolled full-time, have a grade point average of 2.8 or higher, be residents of the city of Baltimore or Baltimore County and have earned 24 or more credits overall and nine credits of STEM coursework.
