Wistron NeWeb wins orders for integrated cellphone antennas.Taipei, Sept. 28, 2009 (CENS) -- Wistron NeWeb Corp. (WNC), a major developer and maker of wireless communication products in Taiwan, recently announced its launching of new cellphone antennas and won orders from some of the world's top-five handset makers, with shipments to begin in 2010. At WNC's recent shareholder meeting, company president Haydn Hsieh said that his company has begun shipments of three new satellite-broadcasting products to major customer Siruius XM in the third quarter, further raising corporate second-half revenues. WNC has a very wide array of products, including outdoor satellite receivers, wireless networking routers, notebook PC-use antenna, IP set-top-boxes (STBs) etc. The company has been winning orders for its new products such as satellite broadcasting receivers, notebook PC and cellphone antennas, digital-home products etc. The company used to be the world's largest supplier of notebook PC antennas with a global market share of 45%. This year, WNC has successfully launched integrated cellphone antennas (for 2G, 3G, 3.5G, WiFi, WiMAX) for smartphones. With established product lines of Personal Handyphone System (PHS) and code division multiple access (CDMA) handsets, WNC is optimistic about the mainland Chinese market. Partnering with a Chinese system-integration maker, WNC has launched W(wideband)-CDMA Android smartphones that will be shipped by the second quarter of 2010. ((QL)) (E) |
