Wireless Industry Veteran Richard Hitt Named CEO of HYPRES.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. -- Richard Hitt has been named president and chief executive officer of HYPRES, Inc., a leading developer of superconductor A material that has little resistance to the flow of electricity. Traditional superconductors operate at absolute zero (-459.67 degrees Fahrenheit or -273.15 degrees Celsius). Experiments in the 1980s raised the temperature to -321 degrees Fahrenheit.  microelectronics (SME (1) (Small and Medium-sized Enterprise) See SMB.

industry, previously served as the company's vice president and general manager of government products and systems.

"Dick is a strong leader with the technical expertise and wireless industry experience we need to propel HYPRES and its unique technology into the defense and commercial markets," said Franklin "Pitch" Johnson, chairman of the board of HYPRES. "Throughout his career he has had a track record of success and proven leadership ability. The board is very pleased to have someone of Dick's caliber leading the company."

Before joining HYPRES in 2003, Hitt served at Raytheon, where he led the company's Joint Tactical Radio Systems programs and business development for the Radios and Terminals group. Since retiring from the U.S. Air Force, he has spent much of his career developing wireless technologies for defense C4ISR C4ISR Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance

"This is an exciting opportunity, and I look forward to building upon the company's successes in developing superconducting digital technology. We have a world class team of people, with capabilities unmatched anywhere in the world," said Hitt. "HYPRES' Digital-RF(TM) capability is one of the critical enabling technologies needed to address the performance challenges facing the wireless industry today and in the future. We will continue to develop state-of-the-art systems for defense communications and pursue opportunities in the commercial market."

Hitt succeeds Jack Rosa, who is retiring after serving on the board of directors and as HYPRES CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  for more than five years. Rosa will act as consultant to the company. Chairman Johnson said, "We appreciate the role Jack has played in bringing HYPRES into its present position of technical and market strength."

HYPRES is harnessing the power of SME to transform the communications architecture through direct digitization of the wireless signal at the antenna -- an innovation that drastically reduces analog signal processing Analog signal processing is any signal processing conducted on analog signals by analog means. "Analog" indicates something that is mathematically represented as a set of continuous values. This differs from "digital" which uses a series of discrete quantities to represent signal. . In addition to reducing the amount and cost of equipment needed to move the RF signal from analog to digital, SME also creates a more robust and reliable signal, and allows engineers to create one radio set that is interoperable across all waveforms and spectrum ranges -- the ultimate goal of the software radio industry. The company has several contracts with the Department of Defense, each a strategic step in productizing the technology and producing the industry's first All-Digital Transceiver(TM).
