Wipro Inaugurates ''Next Generation'' Global Command Centre for Remote Infrastructure Management Services; New Center Addresses Customer Pain-Points Identified by Research; Invests Rs 22.5 crores ($5 Mn) in Technology and Tool Sets.

BANGALORE, India -- Wipro Technologies, the global IT services division of Wipro Limited, unveiled its Next Generation "Global Command Centre" (GCC), the remote managed services hub at Bangalore today. Set up at a cumulative investment of over Rs.22.5 Cr. ($5Mn) in new generation technology and tool sets, the GCC provides Wipro customers a technology agnostic, secure managed services environment.

In a recent poll conducted by Wipro with Everest Group's Outsourcing Center, potential outsourcers identified security challenges, particularly unauthorized distribution of passwords, un-monitored access to and tampering of critical applications as the biggest challenge. An overwhelming 39% of the respondents said that lack of a real-time view of operations and limited visibility into the business impact was a big concern. 16% of the respondents cited vendor inability to support multiple tools and technologies as a deterrent. The new offering from Wipro has unique solutions to each of these problems.

Elaborating on the unique features of the new Center, G K Prasanna, Senior Vice President -- Infrastructure Services Business said, "Some of the center's advanced features like 'password vault' that provides one time access to restrict password sharing, 'sick-system only access' that ensures that systems that do not have a problem cannot be touched, multi-location service delivery for robust risk mitigation and 'business impact reporting' that enables our clients to see the live business impact of IT services on a 24x7 basis make the GCC one of the most robust and secure remote managed services platforms in the world today. This will help us to improve efficiencies and reliability while also reducing total cost of ownership."

The Global Command Centre, first launched in September 2002 to provide remote managed services, is one of the key delivery centers of Wipro's Technology Infrastructure Services (TIS) practice and is the world's first BS 15000 certified facility. In addition to the GCC, Wipro also has 72 offshore delivery centers (ODC) delivering infrastructure services remotely to over 165 global customers including Shell, TUI, Honeywell, Akzo Nobel and Lehman.
