Wipro Clocks Record Implementation of Oracle(R) E-Business Suite at Merichem.

SAN FRANCISCO & BANGALORE, India -- Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limited (NYSE:WIT), and Oracle today announced a record setting implementation of the Oracle[R] E-Business Suite at Merichem, a privately held company supplying chemicals, technology, and services to the Hydrocarbon Processing and Pulp and Paper Industries worldwide, located in Houston, Texas. The implementation timeframe of just 32 weeks for 19 modules of the Oracle E-Business Suite, represents one of the fastest implementations on record for the broad Oracle[R] E-Business Suite footprint by Wipro.

The project represents several "firsts" for Wipro and Oracle, including the first use of Oracle[R] Accelerators in the Oracle On Demand environment and the first implementation of the Oracle Projects Family Pack M globally.

The project represents Wipro's expertise in execution of complex implementations within a tight timeframe. Michael P. Business Benefits

Wipro's Oracle E-Business Suite end-to-end solution greatly improved the cross organization processes and expanded the functionality available to the business. As an example, the solution enabled real-time visibility and tracking of Merichem's Rail Car fleet to interface with third party rail car tracking systems. This enabled transactional analysis of associated transportation costs. In addition, the back-office processes were streamlined.

This implementation also represents a close relationship between Wipro Technologies and Oracle. As a Certified Advantage Partner in the Oracle PartnerNetwork, Wipro and Oracle are working together to implement Oracle Applications globally. Wipro leveraged its Global delivery model from its near shore - offshore centers at Houston, Texas and Bangalore, India. This model not only enabled Wipro to drastically reduce the cost of the implementation but it also enabled Wipro to conduct the effort on a 24-hour basis, in turn compressing the implementation timeframe and limiting the amount of business disruption for Merichem. Wipro and Oracle are currently in the process of expanding the use of this model across the Chemicals, Engineering and Construction markets in order to support cost efficient and low risk application implementations.
