LOUIS - Consistent with the trend in college coaching, Oregon men's basketball coach Ernie Kent Ernie Kent (Born January 22, 1955 in Rockford, Illinois) is the current head men's basketball coach at the University of Oregon. He has been the Ducks' coach since he replaced Jerry Green after Green left for University of Tennessee after the 1996-97 season.  receives something extra in his paycheck for each victory by the Ducks in the postseason.

Based on a June 2003 amendment to his contract, which provides a guaranteed package of $450,000 per year - a base salary of $150,000, plus a supplement of $145,000 and $155,000 through his contract with Oregon Sports Network - Kent is already entitled to receive the following bonuses:

  • NCAA Men's Division III Basketball Championship

For winning a first-round game, $6,000.

For winning a second-round game, $9,000.

Kent's contract also entitles him to receive 8 percent of gross receipts the total of the receipts, before they are diminished by any deduction, as for expenses; - distinguished from net profits.

USA Today did not obtain the bonuses for private school coaches; furthermore, it reported incorrect figures for Kent.

Bellotti's contract provides a base package of $475,000 - salary of $150,000, a supplement of $170,000 and an Oregon Sports Network payment of $155,000, plus unspecified deferred compensation. According to the university, Bellotti's season-ticket bonus and other bonuses for the 2005 football season, when the Ducks won 10 games and reached the Holiday Bowl, pushed his earnings over $1 million for the contract year ending last June.

Bellotti's contract provides for a bonus of $100,000 for winning the national championship, and $25,000 for winning the Pac-10 title.

Oregon's appearance in the Las Vegas Bowl The Las Vegas Bowl is an NCAA-sanctioned Division I-A post-season college football bowl game that has been played annually at 40,000-seat Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada since 1992.  entitled the football coach to a bonus of $25,000, and $5,000 for winning seven games.

Bellotti's contract also includes bonus provisions for Oregon's place in the final national rankings ($25,000 for top 10, $10,000 for 11 through 25) and for network telecasts.

Lananna's $400,000 package - base salary of $150,000 , supplement of $150,000 and $100,000 through the Oregon Sports Network, in addition to non-specified deferred compensation - also includes a variety of performance bonuses based on how the UO men's and women's teams place in cross country and track and field.

Those bonuses range from $1,500 for a fifth-place team finish in the Pac-10, in track or cross country, to $10,000 for the championship, and from $7,500 for fifth place in the NCAA NCAA

 meets in indoor track, outdoor track or cross country to $20,000 for a championship.

Lananna also receives bonuses of $10,000 in years that Oregon hosts the Olympic Trials or NCAA meet, and $5,000 if the Ducks host the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
