Winning the Drug War at Home is the autobiography of a Christian mother who catches her seventeen-year-old son using marijuana marijuana or marihuana, drug obtained from the flowering tops, stems, and leaves of the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa (see hemp) or C. indica; the latter species can withstand colder climates. . Set over a sixteen-month period, Winning the Drug War at Home follows the sentencing of the drug-abusing son to a therapeutic wilderness program in Utah, culminating with his departure for college. Excerpts of letters that the son wrote while in Utah offer the perspective of the teenager, in addition to the point of view of the parents in the main narration.
