, of, Boston, Massachusetts, received the 2005 Piano Technicians Guild The Piano Technicians Guild (PTG), based in Kansas City, Kansas, is the official organization of the Registered Piano Technician (RPT). It is considered the preeminent source of expertise in piano technology and service.

The PTG is a trade association with open membership.
 Foundation (PTGF) Teacher of the Year Award, worth $1,000. This grant provides advanced study opportunities related to piano to Nationally Certified Teachers of Music (NCTM).

Ip is the founder and music director of The Ip Piano School in Boston. She also is the founder and local representative of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music or ABRSM is an educational body that provides examinations in music. Often referred to simply as the "Associated Board", or "the Royal Schools of Music", the organisation is based in London, but runs examination centres all  in England.

Ip attended Harvard University, Extension School. earning certificates n administration and management along with completing course work in English as a second language, passing with distinction. In addition, she received a master of music degree in piano pedagogy from Catholic University of America Catholic University of America, at Washington, D.C.; the national university of the Roman Catholic Church in the United States; coeducational; founded 1887 and opened 1889.  and a bachelor of music degree in piano performance from the Hartt School of Music.

She is MTNA nationally certified in piano and music theory and earned the licentiate licentiate /li·cen·ti·ate/ (li-sen´she-at) one holding a license from an authorized agency giving the right to practice a particular profession.  in piano teaching from The Royal Schools of Music.

Among her MTNA involvement, Ip has served as certification committee chair and junior high competitions chair for Massachusetts MTA. She also is a member of New England Pianoforte Teachers' Association, Inc. and has served in numerous roles for that association.

Ip has organized several concerts and recitals with the Ip School to raise money in support of worthy projects, including the Kwong Kow Chinese School, Foundation for Chinese Performing Arts and The String Advancement Education.

Her performance credits include recitals at the Longy School of Music The Longy School of Music is a conservatory located near Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is one of the three elite conservatories in the Boston area, along with the New England Conservatory and the Boston Conservatory, and it is the only of the three that follows , Catholic University, the Hartt School of Music and the Mozarteum in Austria.

The PTGF Teacher of the Year Award, given annually, is open to individuals who have earned and maintained MTNA Professional Certification for at least six years and are at least age 28.
