Winick signs Ham in the Financial District.


Winick Realty Group has completed a lease for Haru Restaurant at One Wall Street Court.

Benihana Inc., operator of the nation's largest chain of Japanese theme and Sushi restaurants, signed a lease for 6,100 s/f at the former Cocoa Exchange.

The building was erected in 1904 and was the first and foremost Cocoa Futures Market futures market, a commodity exchange where contracts for the future delivery of grain, livestock, and precious metals are bought and sold. Speculation in futures serves to protect both the developers and the users of the commodities from unfavorable and unpredictable , which has now been converted to 126 luxury condominium units. Darrell Rubens, director at Winick Realty Group represented the landlord, the owner of The Cocoa Exchange in the transaction. Haru, owned by Benihana Inc. was represented by Newmark Knight Frank.

"Three years ago, there were more Winick Realty Group for Rent sings in the neighborhood than tenants. Today, we can't keep up with the demand in the Financial District," said Darrell Rubens, director at Winick Realty Group.

Rubens has leased retail space downtown for tenants Gold's Gym Gold's Gym International, Inc. is an international chain of co-ed fitness centers (commonly referred to as "gyms") originally started in California by Joe Gold. Each gym features a wide array of exercise equipment and personal trainers to assist clients. , Merchants Restaurant, the US Post Office and Starwich, to name a few and has many more leases in the works.
