Wimp Derek gets in a Street fight.
The amazing bust-up is set to be watched by about 18million gobsmacked viewers tonight.
Wimp Derek, played by Peter Baldwin, goes for his ex-friend's throat after chasing him off the street.
And scheming Norris is only saved when Derek's dithering missus, Mavis, dives in to rescue him.
A spokesman for the show's makers, Granada, said last night: "Derek's temper has been brewing since Norris kidnapped his beloved gnome Arthur.
"The final straw comes when Norris accidentally scuppers one of Derek's business ventures, a stationery deal with Mike Baldwin's new firm."
The amazing storyline will introduce Norris, played by Malcolm Hebden, as a full- time character in Britain's most popular soap.
Norris and butcher Fred - John Savident - are among several new faces being brought in to boost cast numbers before The Street goes out four nights a week later this year.
