Mr. Reinhardt, the son of a longshoreman, launched Fillmore Real Estate in 1966, opening the first office on the corner of Fillmore and Flatbush Avenues. Since then, the company has grown to more than 20 offices and 500 agents who cover the entire borough of Brooklyn.

"Bill was always looking to improve the company and, most importantly, to serve the people of Brooklyn," said John Reinhardt, who is the president and chief executive officer of Fillmore. "The corporate culture that Dad created enabled Fillmore to grow and still maintain that 'family' feeling. Before he established Fillmore, Mr. Reinhardt, who was born in Park Slope and graduated from Manual Training High School, sold cookies for Nabisco. He began his real estate career after he realized that he had a natural talent for sales that could provide a solid financial foundation for his growing family. "Dad always put family first," John said. As a teenager, he met his future wife, Patricia, at the local A&P where he was stocking cookies. The sweethearts married three years later. And while he loved all his children equally, his youngest and only daughter, Ann, held a special place in his heart. "After having three sons, Dad cherished his daughter," John remembered. Mr. Reinhardt created a special holiday for Ann, Daughter's Day, when he and his youngest would spend the Sunday after Mother's Day together "doing whatever she wanted," said John.

Mr. Reinhardt was an active member of the Lions Club and supported many causes through his position at Fillmore, including the company's annual holiday drive for Toys for Tots Toys For Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which donates toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas.
