The creation of an ethnically homogenous geographic area through the elimination of unwanted ethnic groups by deportation, forcible displacement, or genocide.
 you've never heard of is unfolding in the Sahara. It's a campaign of murder, rape, and pillage PILLAGE. The taking by violence of private property by a victorious army from the citizens or subjects of the enemy. This, in modern times, is seldom allowed, and then, only when authorized by the commander or chief officer, at the place where the pillage is committed.  by Sudan's Arab rulers that has forced 700,000 black Sudanese to flee. The culprit is the Sudanese government. Its Arab leaders have been fighting a civil war for more than 20 years against its rebellious black south. Lately it has armed Arab raiders who are killing or driving out blacks near the border with Chad. The UN's Sudan coordinator described the situation as similar in character, if not scale, to the Rwanda genocide genocide, in international law, the intentional and systematic destruction, wholly or in part, by a government of a national, racial, religious, or ethnic group.  of 1994. We should call Sudan before the UN Security Council and insist that it stop these pogroms. To his credit, President Bush has led the drive for peace in Sudan, doing far more than his predecessors. Now he should show the same resolve. If we turn away because the victims are African tribespeople tribes·peo·ple
