 & Sons (Hoboken, NJ) has purchased Carpe Diem carpe diem (kär`pĕ dē`ĕm), a descriptive term for literature that urges readers to live for the moment [from the Latin phrase "seize the day," used by Horace].  Communications (Yardley, PA), the publisher of three controlled circulation magazines and their accompanying web sites and electronic information products. No terms of the deal were given.

The acquisition, which expands Wiley's global portfolio of controlled circulation life and physical science offerings, includes the purchase of "Food Quality," "PFQ (Per-Flow Queuing) A queuing method that forwards traffic based on priority, not the order of arrival into the queue as with first in-first out. Editorial covers such topics as food security, sanitation, auditing/validation, pest management, RFID/food IT, instrument selection and hormones/antibiotics.

"PFQ" was launched in 1997 and covers trends and advances in product development, formulation, quality control, regulations and drug delivery. It is published quarterly for a circulation of 16,500 quality control, corporate management and research and development executives at pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, manufacturing and research companies. Editorial covers such topics as demographic developments, life cycle management, tablet technology, coatings, microbiology, foreign object detection, chromatography, raw material testing and training programs.

Launched in 2005, "Contamination Control" focuses on the life science industry, covering the technology and methods used to prevent contamination in the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals and medical devices. It is published quarterly for a circulation of 16,500 professionals in the biotechnology, food and beverage F&B is a common abbreviation in the United States and Commonwealth countries, including Hong Kong. F&B is typically the widely accepted abbreviation for "Food and Beverage," which is the sector/industry that specializes in the conceptualization, the making of, and delivery of foods. , bio/pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Editorial includes articles on contract cleaning, isolators, practical aseptic aseptic /asep·tic/ (-tik) free from infection or septic material.
