Wild Wheels: Art for the Road. (What's Happening).* On the other coast, car buffs can revel in nostalgia and delve in extreme expressionism expressionism, term used to describe works of art and literature in which the representation of reality is distorted to communicate an inner vision. The expressionist transforms nature rather than imitates it. In ArtIn painting and the graphic arts, certain movements such as the Brücke (1905), Blaue Reiter (1911), and new objectivity (1920s) are described as expressionist. through two auto exhibits at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. Wild Wheels: Art for the Road, currently running through May 26, features modern mobile public art, "that responds to the automobile's influence on American life and culture," explains Dick Messer, the museum's director. Visitors will find a range of artistic forms from illustrative paintings to reconfigurations of auto chassis--most of which are street-legal, and, in many cases, still works in progress. |
