Wigix becomes the third largest multi-product database on the web.
Online product catalogue company Wigix has become the third largest multi-product database on the web, Wigix said on Thursday, quoting the latest Internet Retailers Top 500 Guide.
Wigix revealed it has surpassed Overstock.com and Walmart.com in number of SKUs in a multi-product database, but the company currently has 3.5m SKUs, sharply up from 400,000 from its public beta launch in June 2007.
Wigix is a catalogue of products, with information of who owns them and what they are worth by leveraging an innovative, open and highly scalable community driven process.
The company's database enables an easy search experience for any item and its associated meta-data and NASDAQ stock-market-style liquidity.
Wigix is headquartered in California, with operations in China and is funded by venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson. The company was founded in 2007 by James Chong, a successful entrepreneur who also architected the online trading systems at Charles Schwab.
