The steel lattice forms a structural cage round the long thin plan, enabling internal spaces to be column free, giving greater flexibility for exhibition programming and layout. It also filters light and glare, like a modern mashrabiyya. Depending on the viewer's perspective, the lattice-wrapped volume will shift between a figurative sculpture and a giant window display.
