:ZWBC) announced today the launch of their ProUSA series, a new family of standards-based Gigabit Ethernet An Ethernet standard that transmits at 1 Gbps. Used mostly to connect high-end workstations and servers as well as for network backbones, Gigabit Ethernet transmits full duplex from point to point using switches and half duplex in a shared environment (CSMA/CD) using a hub.  products targeting the Tier-1 market segment.

The ProUSA product family includes two high performance Gigabit Ethernet NICs (network interface cards). One NIC (1) (Network Interface Card) See network adapter. See also InterNIC.

(2) (New Internet Computer) An earlier Linux-based computer from The New Internet Computer Company (NICC), Palo Alto, CA.
is designed for use in desktop computers. The other NIC is for use in servers. Both high performance products support the market's most advanced features including PCIX, with bus data rates of up to 133 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc. , making them compatible with today's machines but ready to be installed in more powerful computers of the future.

The family also includes a high performance 16-port Gigabit Ethernet switch with Layer 2, 3, and 4 switching, management, and many other advanced features. The new switch will handle up to 104,000 MAC addresses and 512 MB of packet buffering.

All of the ProUSA products are manufactured in the U.S. to insure quality and reliable delivery during periods of unstable markets. Each product has also been certified for 100-meter Cat 5 segments, therefore eliminating the need to rewire re·wire

Jamie Stack, newly appointed Executive Vice President of WideBand Corporation, explained that the products will be marketed through the Company's expanding network of Authorized Solution Providers and Direct Marketing Resellers. "The advanced features and level of performance from these products, coupled with our unparalleled commitment to customer support and quality, will also attract strong interest in the family from private sector Tier-1 customers," he said. "When you look at the total cost of ownership, there is no better value than the ProUSA series."
