Wicks acquires VentureOne Corp. from Reuters, names Jim Beecher head of Asset Alternatives.


In a deal that will combine two major providers of private equity and venture capital information services See Information Systems.  into what the principals term "a new powerful media business," Wicks Business Information LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

The acquisition comes only weeks after Wicks purchased of all of The Economics Press Inc.'s newsletters (NL/NL 7/31/01). The purchase of VentureOne is Wicks' eighth since it was established in July 1999 as an affiliate of The Wicks Groups of Companies LLC, a New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of

VentureOne (www. ventureone.com), through its VentureSource database, is the leading provider of in-depth information about venture capital investing in young technology companies around the world. VentureOne publishes a daily venture industry update, in addition to various annual and quarterly periodicals. It also organizes venture capital conferences in the U.S. and Europe.

Wicks will combine VentureOne with its Asset Alternatives division, whose flagship newsletter, The Private Equity Analyst, covers the private equity and venture capital markets. Asset Alternatives (www.assetnews.com), which Wicks acquired in September 2000, also publishes five other venture capital and private equity newsletters. In addition, it produces directories, conferences, research reports and internet products. VentureOne president David Witherow will continue in his current role with the company.

Just a week before this most recent acquisition, Wicks named James H. Beecher vice president and general manager of Asset Alternatives and publisher of The Private Equity Analyst-overseeing all aspects of Asset Alternative's business. Beecher was previously the group publisher in charge of the global capital and technology newsletters of Institutional Invester Inc., New York.
