Wichita State University selected as 2002 Collegiate Chapter of the Year. (Association News).The Wichita State University Wichita State University (WSU) is an American state-supported university located in the city of Wichita, Kansas. WSU is one of six state universities governed by the Kansas Board of Regents. The current President is Dr. Donald Beggs. (WSU WSU Washington State University WSU Wayne State University WSU Wichita State University WSU Wright State University WSU Weber State University WSU Western State University College of Law WSU Winona State University WSU Walter Sisulu University ) Music Teachers Association Collegiate Chapter is the recipient of the 2002 MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National Association MTNA Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (McMinnville, Tennessee) Collegiate Chapter of the Year Award. "I am very proud of the Wichita State University Chapter," says Sylvia Coats, Wichita's chapter advisor since 1987. "I appreciate their initiative, professionalism and friendships they have developed. This year's programs were planned to be active and educationally beneficial." The chapter's accomplishments include a successful mentor program and communication with the Wichita local association, a student holiday recital Recital - dBASE-like language and DBMS from Recital Corporation. Versions include Vax VMS. and a guest artist lecture-recital. They also critiqued the students at the Elementary Music Festival and organized a site for the Kansas Music Teachers Association Music Progressions Tests. Chapter officers are Ruth Burrow, president; Crystal Zimmerman, vice president; and Suzanne Morton, secretary/treasurer. The WSU Collegiate Chapter was started by Marguerite Miller, NCTM NCTM National Council of Teachers of Mathematics NCTM Nationally Certified Teacher of Music NCTM North Carolina Transportation Museum NCTM National Capital Trolley Museum NCTM Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage , WSU professor emeritus. The Collegiate Chapter of the Year Award was established by MTNA to support and encourage ongoing educational programming for collegiate chapters. The $500 award is to be used during the upcoming year, and an evaluation describing its use is to be submitted to MTNA. |
