WiQuest Announces Wireless USB Drivers for Windows Vista(TM) Operating System; Drivers Extend WiQuest's Gigabit Total Solution.

ALLEN, Texas -- WiQuest Communications, Inc., the leading fabless semiconductor company A fabless semiconductor company specializes in the design and sale of hardware devices implemented on semiconductor chips. It achieves an advantage by outsourcing the fabrication of the devices to a specialized semiconductor manufacturer called a semiconductor foundry or "fab.  developing complete ultrawideband (UWB (Ultra-WideBand) A wireless technology that uses less power and provides higher speed than 802.11 Wi-Fi networks or first-generation Bluetooth products. UWB is expected to provide wireless video transmission for home theater systems, cable TV, auto safety and ) solutions, today announced the availability of Windows Vista drivers for its range of wireless USB reference designs including the wireless USB Adapter A network adapter that plugs into the computer via the USB port. These drivers are based on Certified Wireless USB from the USB-IF, and have been tested to work seamlessly with Windows Vista Operating System Release Candidate 1 (RC1). With the announcement of Windows Vista support, WiQuest is the first to provide its customers with a total wireless USB solution running on the Windows Vista operating system.

"It is critical to our customers, who are time-to-market leaders in their industries, that WiQuest's products support Windows Vista, before it is released for consumers in January 2007," said Dr. Matthew B. Shoemake, WiQuest founder, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. WiQuest's software running under Windows Vista enables the user to manage device discovery, association, security and connection. The software also conforms to the Certified Wireless USB Association Models specification and includes drivers and firmware for host and device.

WiQuest is the only UWB silicon manufacturer that has a total solution approach that includes chipset, reference designs, and Windows software drivers for both XP and now Windows Vista. The WiQuest WQST110 and WQST101 chipset is the industry's first commercially-available, high-performance UWB silicon that leverages and extends the significant wireless performance advantage offered by UWB. With its unprecedented 1 Gbps wireless technology, the WQST110/101 chipset enables a new breed of applications previously considered unfeasible. No longer constrained by bandwidth or wires, consumers will quickly appreciate the benefits of this newly-found wireless performance through enjoying and sharing digital content, gaming and multimedia anytime and anywhere, without the need for connectors or a fistful fist·ful
