WHYTOCK, Cherry. My cup runneth over; the life of Angelica angelica (ănjĕl`ĭkə), any species of the genus Angelica, plants of the family Umbelliferae (parsley family), native to the Northern Hemisphere and New Zealand, valued for their potency as a medicament and protection against  Cookson Potts. To quote from the review of the hardcover in KLIATT, September 2003: Angelica, known as "Angel," is a large girl who simply adores food--both eating it and cooking it. She wishes, however, that she was fashionably thin, like her ex-model mother and faithful friends Minnie, Portia, and Mercedes, though they all insist that they love her just the way she is. So do her eccentric father, known as Potty, who writes pamphlets with titles like "How to Speak Martian," her sensible cook/housekeeper Flossie, and her wild pet terrier terrier, classification used by breeders and kennel clubs to designate dogs originally bred to start small game and vermin from their burrows or, in the case of several breeds in this group, to go to earth and kill their prey.  Stinker. Still, to capture the attention of the gorgeous Adam, Angel tries an all-cabbage diet (with all-too-windy results). Kickboxing turns out to be a better alternative. She is panicky at the thought of modeling at the school's Fashion Fair, but with the right undergarments she is a great success, and realizes that boys appreciate her just as she is, too.
