("Why I'm Against Pre-Game Prayers: An Evangelical Christian's Story," October Church & State.) Mr. Christenot's experience was a rather unusual one in that he and his family felt uncomfortable participating in a religious invocation because it was not a Christian prayer, but a Buddhist one. In an unusual twist, a Christian was in the minority. As a result, he felt very uncomfortable with the religious proceedings unfolding before him. Too often Christians feel that since they are overwhelmingly in the majority in many places, their views should be tolerated by the non-Christian. For evangelicals, nothing may illustrate the need for government's neutrality in religion better than Mr. Christenot's experience. Thank you for printing his article.
