Arthur J. Mirante II, Cushman & Wakefield president and CEO, announced that David Gialanella was promoted to executive vice president and will lead its new Global Services Group.

Gilalanella, who previously held the title of executive managing director of business development, will assume global responsibility for the development and implementation of consistency in the marketing and delivery of all the firms' capabilities.

New York-based Bovis Lend Lease appointed Charlie Bacon chief executive officer of Bovis Lend Lease Americas and Larry Atkins to the newly created position of chief operating officer.

Bacon joined Bovis Lend Lease in 1982. He has been president of Bovis Lend Lease Americas since November 1998, with responsibility for the company's key global, national and regional accounts and the, development of the company's Latin American markets.

In Bacon's career at Bovis Lend Lease, he has concentrated on incorporating fast-track methods for building complicated projects within strict schedule and budget guidelines and has demonstrated an ability to manage virtually all phases of pre-construction and construction.

Atkins joined Bovis Lend Lease in 1980. He was most recently president of the Mid-Atlantic Region of Bovis Lend Lease, which includes offices in Charlotte, Raleigh, Richmond and Columbia. Atkins will handle the day-today operations of the business within the United States and report to Bacon.

David Simson, president of GVA Williams of New Jersey, Inc., reported that Drew W. Persson has joined the firm as first vice president. Persson was formerly a vice president for CB Richard Ellis, Inc. In his new position at GVA Williams, Persson will work on Class A office landlord representation and on exclusive leasing and investment sales assignments throughout the metropolitan area.

Persson has represented such leading companies as Teachers Retirement Union of Illinois, IBM Pension Plan, Prudential Insurance Company, JFR Global Investments, Invesco Realty Advisors and Pacific Life. In addition, he has participated in investment sale transactions totaling $75 million in the last three years.

Since 1994, Persson has completed over 700,000 square feet of leasing assignments valued in excess of $75 million. Persson has been a broker since 1992. He is a graduate of Rider University and a member of IOREBA and an SIOR candidate.

Jones Lang LaSalle announced the appointment of Diane C. Young to senior vice president and Andrew W. Osborne to vice president of the Capital Markets group.

Young will report to Tom Beneville, president of Capital Markets, and will focus on expanding the debt capital markets business throughout the Americas for Jones Lang LaSalle. Osborne will also report to Beneville as he focuses on investment sales in the Northeastern United States and assists with international communication projects in North America.

Young has over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry. Prior to joining Jones Lang LaSalle, Young was an associate director and officer for TIAACREF (the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association College Retirement Equities Fund. At TIAACREF, Young managed a $450 million nationwide loan portfolio.

SL Green Realty announced that Roger H. Kahn, a top New York real estate industry executive, has joined the firm as its senior vice president of management and construction.

Kahn, a Wharton graduate who most recently headed the management operations at Grubb & Ellis New York, is a former senior managing director of the Edward S. Gordon Company where he was responsible for overseeing a 27 million-square-foot, Class A office building portfolio.

The appointment of Kahn occurs simultaneously with SL Green's announced restructuring of its operating group, which will combine, its operations and development units under one executive.

As a result of the company's restructuring of its operating group, Rick Serrapica, senior vice president of operations, will assume responsibility for all property infrastructure and operations while reporting to Kahn. Steve Beal, senior vice president of development, will report to Kahn heading up the company's construction unit.

Kahn earned a BS with honors from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and received his MBA in finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University. He holds the Real Property Administrator designation from BOW is a member of the Management Board of Directors of the Real Estate Board of New York, and is a Director of the Realty Advisory Board.

NTX, a construction management and general contracting firm, announced the promotion of Eric Sugarman to vice president of construction.

Sugarman has been with NTX since February 1994 and in that time has taken on the supervision of many of the firm's interior construction and renovation projects. A few recent projects include: J. J. Studley at 300 Park Ave., Internet Partnership Group at 477 Madison Ave., Sorema at 199 Water St., Kenzo at 80 Wooster St. and the Louis Vuitton Boutique in Soho.

His expanded responsibilities will include full supervision and management of all daily construction operations for renovations and alterations of commercial projects.

NTX named Michael J. Berman as vice president of business development. Berman, who has in-depth experience in both construction management and the real estate industry, joined NTX on Sept. 25.

He most recently worked for Advocate Consulting Group Inc. where he developed new accounts and performed strategic planning and project management. Among his many projects were a 625,000-square-foot headquarters for Reuters America Holdings, the relocation of Kenneth Cole Productions into a new 125,000-square-foot, corporate offices and a 127,000 square foot relocation and expansion for the U.S. Trust Company.

Trammell Crow Company announced the appointment of Derek R. McClain as chief financial officer.

McClain joined the company in February 1998 as its general counsel, after a 16-year career a corporate finance and securities lawyer with Vinson & Elkins, an international law firm based in Houston, Texas.

Since joining the company, McClain has taken on new roles and responsibilities in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and other areas, culminating in his January 2000 appointment as the company's chief administrative officer.

In his new role as chief financial officer, McClain will have responsibility for all corporate finance, treasury, corporate communications and legal functions.

Stribling & Associates announced the appointment of Christopher P. Wilson as the new senior vice president, director of development, for Stribling Marketing Associates. The appointment was effective Oct. 1.

Currently senior vice president, director of sales, at Stribling-Wells & Gay, Wilson is a graduate of Dartmouth College and attended Parsons School of Design. He entered the real estate profession through the allied fields of architecture and interior design, as a buyer, restorer and reseller of co-op apartments, then moved into residential sales in 1984 with the Upper West Side firm, Newton-Levi.

In 1995, Wilson earned a master of science in real estate from the New York University Real Estate Institute, with a concentration in development and investment. He then worked with The Related Companies, where he was involved in marketing two projects, the Strathmore at 400 East 84th St., and the Sagamore at 189 West 89th St.

Wilson rejoined Stribling & Associates in 1998. The Stribling TriBeCa Office, at 246 West Broadway, was opened in 1999 under his supervision.

In his current position, Wilson has worked hand-in-hand with Stribling's marketing teams on residential development projects, including The Franklin Tower at 90 Franklin St.

Sweetwater Construction Corporation announced the appointment of Tom Hall as director of client relations. The resident of Whitehouse Station, N.J. will be responsible for managing client relationships in the pharmaceutical, biotechnical and emerging technology markets. In addition, he will assist with Sweetwater's expansion into the Pennsylvania marketplace.

Hall most recently served as business developer with Schoor DePalma. Previously he held management positions in several mechanical trades including Carrier Corporation and Landis & Gyr Powers. In addition, Hall has experience in engineering, manufacturing and distribution having served in business development and management positions at Fisons LTD, ATS, Pameco and Heartland Industries.

Hall is a graduate of Lehigh University and received his MBA from Syracuse University. He is married with two children.
