Debra Moritz, international director of Jones Lang LaSalle's global consulting group, named Michael Miller as senior director.

Based in the firm's New York office, Miller will lead global consulting's services related to corporate merger, acquisition and transformation strategy. Prior to joining Jones Lang LaSalle, Miller was a partner of the Schaefer-Belmont Group. He also served as an officer-in-charge of ProLogis' operations in Central Europe.

A member of the IDRC and the Real Estate Finance Association , Miller has an B.A in architecture from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from The Wharton Graduate School, University of Pennsylvania. He also completed courses toward a masters of engineering and architecture at Politechnica Wroclawska in Poland.

Brian R. Corcoran, managing director of valuation advisory services for Cushman & Wakefield, has been honored with the 2000 Person of the Year Award by the Metropolitan New York Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. Corcoran was cited for his "years of outstanding leadership and service in the advancement of our chapter and the appraisal profession."

In announcing the award, Samuel B. Kuckley, associate director of TIAA-CREF, noted several contributions Corcoran has made to the professional organization, including guiding the board and chapter presidents during critical years after the chapter merger, helping to hire an administrative assistant for the chapter, participating in negotiations for the affiliation with New York University, helping to revitalize the chapter, and setting the tone for future administrations.

Corcoran has been in the real estate business since 1971. He joined Cushman & Wakefield in July 1981 as vice president and manager for the New York region appraisal division.

Scott Lifschultz, principal in the retail division of Chase Commercial/TCN Worldwide, reported the appointment of Dominick A. Musilli, Jr. as senior vice president.

Prior to joining Chase Commercial, Musilli was real estate manager for the Stop & Shop Supermarket Company for the Connecticut, New York and Western Massachusetts' markets. He began his real estate career at McDonald's Corporation covering the Connecticut marketplace.

Musilli is a graduate of the University of Connecticut where he also received his masters of business administration in real estate. He is a licensed real estate broker and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the town committee for Stamford. Musilli resides in Stamford.

Susan Gombocz, of Armonk, and Silvana Malpelli, of Somers, relocation counselors with Houlihan/Lawrence relocation management, were both recently awarded the RELO certified coordinator designation by RELO/The Premier Real Estate Network. The RCC designation is given through a special RELO certification program and is presented to individuals who have met a number of educational requirements for handling the duties of a relocation coordinator.

Louise Sunshine, president and chief executive officer of The Sunshine Group, Inc. announced the promotion of Joan Kaplan to director of the private brokerage division.

Kaplan provides marketing and brokerage services to a wide variety of clients and private customers interested in buying, selling, or leasing condominiums, cooperatives, or townhouses. She has been with the firm for over 10 years. Some of the sponsor/owner properties she has worked with include 30 E. 85th St., 521 Park Ave., 525 Park Ave. and 106 Central Park South.

Kaplan is an executive vice president with The Sunshine Group. She received a bachelors of arts degree from Smith College and a masters degree from Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. She is active in charitable and community organizations and is professionally affiliated with the Real Estate Board of New York and Interfirm Forum where she served on the ethics committee.

Louise Sunshine, president and chief executive officer of The Sunshine Group, Inc. announced the promotion of Judith Banham to chief operating officer.

Banham was a senior managing director for The Sunshine Group. Banham has been with the company for over 10 years. In her new role, she will be responsible for the daily operations of the company. Banham will continue to oversee the predevelopment planning, and marketing and sales programs for New York properties. She also directs the development and implementation of marketing strategies and manages the sales process.

During her tenure with The Sunshine Group, Banham has brought numerous properties to market representing over $1.5 billion in sales. Some of these developments include The Park Imperial, Bridge Tower Place, 15 E. 69th St. and The Park Laurel. Banham is a graduate of St. John's University. Her prior experience includes 10 years as vice president of The Glick Organization.

Marc J. Freud has become a principal in Troutbrook Company. Freud's team is responsible for executing entrepreneurial and institutional grade advisory sales transactions in the Manhattan and tri-state area marketplace and is charged with increasing its ownership interests in real estate and providing company capital for acquisitions and bridge financing to third parties.

Freud has over 14 years of experience in the real estate business as an owner, manager, advisor and transactional agent. He previously was a principal of the RAK Group. Freud has been involved in the real estate investment sales side of the business for more than five years and has been responsible in the past for the sale of such properties as: 75 Maiden Lane, 551 Madison Ave., and 232 Madison Ave. Prior to joining the RAK Group, he was a co-founder and director of the CB Richard Ellis Investment Properties Group.

Freud holds a bachelor of arts in economics and a masters degree from New York University, cum laude. He sits on the Manhattan executive board of the Boy Scouts of America and is a past eagle scout-silver palm recipient.

Freud is also on the management committee of the UJA Real Estate Division; and Light-Years, the non-profit organization headed by former President Jimmy Carter.

Massey Knakal is pleased to announce that Mark Massey has been named senior managing director of the firm.

Massey is a native of Dedham, Mass., and began his career in sales after attending the University of Massachusetts. He joined Massey Knakal in June 1991 as a sales person.

He has been responsible for more than 40 building sales and net lease transactions on the Upper East Side. These included the Club El Morocco building at 54th Street. and Second Avenue, a newly constructed apartment building at 415 E. 57th St., a residential conversion project at 235 E. 55th St., and a single-family residence at 33 Sutton Place.

In addition to his real estate activities, Massey enjoys a wide range of athletic events. A veteran of the 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000 New York City Marathons, he is also a manager/player on Massey Knakal's real estate league softball team.

CB Richard Ellis has announced the promotion of Al Mirin to first vice president. The announcement marks his second promotion in nine months. Formerly a vice president, this 13-year veteran will continue to represent tenant and landlords in the relocation disposition and marketing of office space in the Fairfield County area, as well as on a national and international basis.

Mirin currently serves on the board of directors for the New York City, Westchester County, and Fairfield County Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and is also a member of the Real Estate Finance Association.

He is a top producer in the company's Conn./N.Y. suburban office and has consistently completed the largest deals within Fairfield County. Mirin began his career with CB Richard Ellis in 1988 as a financial analyst.

Mirin holds a bachelor of science degree in finance from the school of management at the State University of New York at Binghamton and currently resides in New Canaan.

The Loews Corporation announced the appointment of Jason T. Boxer as vice president of real estate.

In his new position, Boxer will oversee real estate activities for Loews Corporation. These will include transactions for Loews Hotels, Bulova Corporation, and other Loews subsidiaries, as well as involvement in real estate planning and acquisitions. Prior to his promotion, Boxer served as director of real estate for the company. Before that, he was manager of the department.

Prior to joining Loews, Boxer served as a real estate attorney at the law firm, Battle Fowler LLP, where he represented landlords, institutional lenders, buyers, and sellers in leasing and financing transactions involving hotels and other commercial properties.

Boxer is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and New York University School of Law. He resides on Manhattan's East Side

Edward A. Rytter assumed the presidency of the Building Owners and Managers of New York Jan. 1.

Building on the technological and programmatic innovations of the former president Steven W. Ford, Rytter is now focusing on the "people behind the buildings." His plans for the organization include funneling innovation and intelligence from individual members into the association.

As the vice president of corporate real estate for The Prudential Insurance Company of America, Rytter is responsible for the acquisition, disposition, operation, and construction of more than 20 million square feet of space.

Rytter holds BSME and MBA degrees from Farleigh Dickinson University, and was the recipient of the school's Anthony Gervino Award for Achievement. A member of BOMA/NY since 1986, he has served on its board of directors since 1992, and as the chairperson of its long-range planning committee in 1999 and 2000.
