White v. Kautzky, 269 F.Supp.2d 1054 (N.D.Iowa 2003). A state inmate INMATE. One who dwells in a part of another's house, the latter dwelling, at the same time, in the said house. Kitch. 45, b; Com. R. 154; 2 Man. & Ry. 227; 9 B. & Cr.  brought an action against a director of a state corrections department and the warden WARDEN. A guardian; a keeper. This is the name given to various officers: as, the warden of the prison; the wardens of the port of Philadelphia; church wardens.  of a state penitentiary penitentiary: see prison. , alleging that his and other inmates' access to courts rights were violated by their failure to keep the penitentiary law library up to date. The court held that summary judgment for the inmate's individual claim was precluded by a genuine issue of material fact, as to whether the legal assistance system at the penitentiary, which used contract attorneys as a method to assist inmates, provided the inmate with a reasonably adequate opportunity to present claimed violations of fundamental constitutional rights to the courts. (Anamosa State Penitentiary Anamosa State Penitentiary is a medium security prison for men. It is located in the Jones County community of Anamosa, Iowa - approximately 25 miles northeast of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Currently the penitentiary is home to about 1250 inmates, and has 357 staff members.
