Whispers.
Whose silent air this Christmas Eve
that all the world's a quiet plain
where prayers pray to all believe
the impulse peace was born to reign
What silence rare this Christmas night
so all the Earth can hope to hear
the Angels whispering the Light
sweet vespers told from ear to ear
who dances in the darkened halls
with flickered candlelight within
behind the folded doors of hope
where conscious love has not worn thin
and all the crickets there with us
singing into all the nights
as all the stars fell down from where
they had been hung inside the heights
Whose precious hope in our poor trust
the stillness slid beneath our doors
delivered in the time we must
entrusted faith is mine and yours
