Whirlpool Board Elects Periquito to Executive Post.

BENTON HARBOR, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 22, 1997--Whirlpool Corporation's board of directors has elected Paulo F.M. Periquito executive vice president with responsibility for Whirlpool Latin America, and a member of the company's executive committee. Periquito succeeds P. Daniel Miller.

"The outstanding leadership that Paulo Periquito provides will be critical as we move to fully integrate the Latin American business into Whirlpool's global network," said David R. Whitwam, chairman and CEO. "Dan Miller has done an excellent job strengthening our Latin American business during his five years in Brazil and will now return to Benton Harbor to assist in the Latin American transition," added Whitwam.

In September, the company announced that it would purchase the controlling interest in Brasmotor S.A., the holding company that controls Multibras S.A. Eletrodomesticos, an approximately $2 billion appliance company with the leading market share position in Latin America.

Both Periquito and Miller, who will remain a member of the company's executive committee, will report to William D. Marohn, vice chairman.
