Which way are we headed? An outlook for Memphis, Shelby County, Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Arlington, and Lakeland, Tennessee.

Forecasting is always risky at best, especially when discussing the future of a community. Such foresight requires looking at the community's history as well as considering current and future events, the impact of outside factors, wisdom on the part of the forecaster, and an understanding of the community's population.

When Business Perspectives wanted to know the outlook for Memphis, Shelby County, Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Arlington, and Lakeland, Tennessee, we went directly to the source: we asked the city and county mayors for their views on what 2012 will hold for his or her municipality. The following are their responses to our questions.
