When NetWorld+Interop Las Vegas 2004 Participants Discuss Security, IT Industry Will Listen.

MediaLive International, Inc., producer of the world's best-known events, related media and marketing services for technology buyers and sellers, announced today that security will be one of the hottest themes at NetWorld(SM)+Interop(R) Las Vegas 2004. NetWorld+Interop is the only event that brings a systematic approach to network security, investigating the full range of security issues for the latest networking technologies, in the context of real-world enterprise and service provider networking environments.

Security highlights at NetWorld(SM)+Interop(R) will include a 3-day security conference, a dedicated SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) The leading security protocol on the Internet. Developed by Netscape, SSL is widely used to do two things: to validate the identity of a Web site and to create an encrypted connection for sending credit card and other personal data.  VPN (Virtual Private Network) A private network that is configured within a public network (a carrier's network or the Internet) in order to take advantage of the economies of scale and management facilities of large networks.  Pavilion, nine security workshops and a close examination of LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  Access Security in the popular, iLabs testing series, done in association with Network World.

Security solutions are also planned to be on display in the eNet, the NetWorld+Interop show network built from scratch by 12 leading IT vendors. NetScreen Technologies, Inc. will lead the eNet security focus, providing critical firewall and prevention protection.
