When 'in the bag' is not enough.


Dear Editor,

When packaging a static sensitive component, many people make the mistake of thinking that using an anti-static bag will protect the component. This is not the case.

An antistastic bag will not generate static, but does not protect from static. It is easy to destroy the component while it is in a Sealed antistatic bag A treated plastic bag used to store electronic products in order to reduce static electricity. The inside of the bag provides the protection. See antistatic device. . dust; walk across a carpet; on a dry day and touch the top of the bag while it is sitting on a metal work bench.

The right way to protect a static sensitive component is to wrap it in aluminum foil Noun 1. aluminum foil - foil made of aluminum
aluminium foil, tin foil

foil - a piece of thin and flexible sheet metal; "the photographic film was wrapped in foil"
 before you put it in an antistatic bag.
