The population was 11,143 at the 2000 census. The city is the county seat of Elmore CountyGR6.

Mountain Home Air Force Base is located nearby.
. Below, Laura Cunningham Laura Cunningham is a 26 year old singer from Dublin, Ireland. She grew up in Ranelagh as part of a large musical family. She started off her musical career as part of The Young Dublin Singers, travelling Europe to various musical festivals and competitions before studying  of Reno, Nev., treadles her spinning wheel in one of the spinning circles at the gathering that includes sheep, goats, Angora rabbits and alpacas.
