Washington, town (1991 pop. 48,856), Sunderland metropolitan district, NE England. Washington was designated one of the new towns in 1964 to alleviate overpopulation in the Tyneside-Wearside area.
 Post says it has difficulty finding women columnists. Why don't they publish Molly Ivins Mary Tyler "Molly" Ivins (August 30 1944 – January 31 2007) was a liberal American newspaper columnist, political commentator, and best-selling author from Austin, Texas.  more than once or twice a year? She is one of the great liberal voices, both wise and funny. Even when you disagree with Verb 1. disagree with - not be very easily digestible; "Spicy food disagrees with some people"
hurt - give trouble or pain to; "This exercise will hurt your back"
 her, she's a delight to read. I won't comment on the relative intellectual merits of the other Post columnists, but I will say that lightness is not one of their notable characteristics.
