When Lisa Caroprese, a Young Senior Miss dancer in Las Vegas, was presented an award for her performance to poetry (devoid of music), was that the ultimate extension of "lyrical" dance (with only lyrics)? Is hip-hop a theatrical or a social dance form? Should comedic pieces be taken seriously? Do dance forms really need labels for anyone but academics and marketers? If we can't discuss or critique dance in its proper categories, is it really "art," or just plain enjoyment?
