In Baltimore (888-BALTIMORE; www.baltimore.org), for black history month, the Maryland Historical Society The Maryland Historical Society, founded in 1844, is the oldest cultural institution in the state of Maryland. The society "collects, preserves, and interprets objects and materials reflecting Maryland's diverse heritage.  is featuring the exhibit What's it to you? Black History is American History, highlighting black achievements in the state from the late 1600s to 2000. The exhibit runs from February 15, 2002, to January 2003. The Baltimore Museum of Art's exhibit, Looking Forward/ Looking Black (February 6 to May 5), re-examines racial and gender stereotypes.
