Westfield Shoppingtown Santa Anita: $113 Million Renovation Offers San Gabriel Valley Shoppers More Shopping, Dining and Entertainment.


ARCADIA, Calif. -- Expansion Grand Opening Slated for October 1, 2004

San Gabriel Valley The San Gabriel Valley is one of the principal valleys of southern California. It lies to the east of the city of Los Angeles, to the north of the Puente Hills, to the south of the San Gabriel Mountains, and to the west of the Inland Empire.  shoppers will experience 250,000 square feet of new specialty shops, restaurants, and entertainment options at Westfield Shoppingtown Santa Anita's expansion grand opening slated for October 1, 2004. The property currently features a mix of 151 specialty stores, four major department stores This is a list of department stores. A new 12,000 square-foot food court and numerous new sit-down restaurants including Wood Ranch BBQ BBQ barbecue  & Grill, Bacchus Wine & Champagne Bistro and McGrath's Fish House will provide guests with new dining experiences.

Combining the best of traditional fashion retailing with innovative elements such as alfresco dining, leading edge entertainment and superior customer service amenities is described by Westfield's Senior Executive Vice President of Development, David Doll, as the new "Hy-Style" development concept. "At Santa Anita, we have taken an incredible shopping center and added new elements and energy to create a fun family experience. This truly will be San Gabriel Valley's destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment."

Three major architecturally designed spaces comprise the 250,000 square foot expansion area: the outdoor restaurant plaza, a skylight-atrium that bathes the new Food Court in natural sunlight, and a new retail wing. The outdoor plaza, finished in pre-cast colored concrete flooring with striking pop-out storefront & restaurant designs brings life, energy and new outdoor dining experiences to the center. A dramatic two-story high skylight-atrium ceiling will top the nearly 12,000 square foot Food Court seating area that is enclosed by two gently curving banks of delectable food court eateries on opposite sides of the seating area. A new retail district links the atrium space to the original center and a new entry court for the existing Robinsons-May department store.

New lifestyle and entertainment venues opening at Westfield Shoppingtown Santa Anita include:

--AMC 16-Screen Theater. One of the largest motion picture exhibitors in the United States, AMC is known for providing a state-of-the-art movie-going experience for its customers. Each theater features loveseats and stadium-style seating with digital surround sound and cutting-edge projection technology.

--Dave & Buster's. Dallas based entertainment giant Dave & Buster's makes its Los Angeles County debut with over 50,000 sq. ft. of food and drink, fun and games "Fun and Games" is an episode of the original The Outer Limits television show. New restaurants opening at Westfield Shoppingtown Santa Anita include:

--Bacchus Wine & Champagne Bistro. Known for its delicious food, gourmet items and unique collection of rare wines, this innovative bistro will offer an extensive variety of wines and seat 100 guests in a contemporary vineyard setting. Built on an elevated open area directly below a soaring skylight in the center of the new Food Court atrium, the Bistro will feature fabulous celebrity chefs dinners where the chef will pair wine with a course of foods. California wine-makers will be featured every other month and will teach the basics of understanding wines and foods.

--McGrath's Fish House. Making its California debut, this family-owned Portland, Oregon restaurant has been serving up fresh, affordable seafood for more than 25 years. Each dish, including their famous clam chowder chowder, stew of fish or shellfish with potatoes, onions, and pork (usually salt pork), thickened with crumbled hard bread. The name chowder seems to have originated from the French word chaudière , fresh fish, seafood salads and Fisherman's stew, is expertly prepared and served in an inviting, waterfront-style restaurant. The theme of a rustic Northwest cannery is incorporated with dockside charm creating an atmosphere that's entertaining and casually comfortable. McGrath's also includes a Raw Bar, a live lobster and crab tank, and a variety of steaks, chicken and pasta dishes.

--Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill. Best friends, Eric Anders and Ofer Shemtov, founded the original Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill in 1992 in Moorpark, California. They continue their vision of offering guests quality food, courteous service and unbeatable value in a rustic dining room atmosphere at this new Santa Anita location. Known for serving up large portions of beef, chicken and ribs doused in a signature smoky-sweet barbecue sauce, Wood Ranch is a family-oriented grill which was voted by Hospitality Magazine to have one of the top ten Kid's Menu in the country.

The local economic benefits from the expansion and redevelopment of Westfield Shoppingtown Santa Anita will result in an increase of approximately 750 full and part-time jobs.
