 East is heading west with plans to vacate To annul, set aside, or render void; to surrender possession or occupancy.

The term vacate has two common usages in the law. With respect to real property, to vacate the premises means to give up possession of the property and leave the area totally devoid of contents.

The space is being marketed through Massey Knakal Real Estate Services for $23 million.

The announcement that the British auction giant would consolidate came three weeks ago. Christie's East will move into space at the company's Rockefeller Center Rockefeller Center, complex of buildings in central Manhattan, New York City, between 48th and 51st streets and Fifth Ave. and the Ave. of the Americas (Sixth Ave.). The project was sponsored by John D. Rockefeller, Jr.  headquarters.

 a Christie's spokesman, Christie's East will continue to hold auctions on 67th street through December of this year. The actual move will not take place until February of 2001.

The building itself was designed to house a concrete and steel garage initially. It has six floors at 5,000 SF each.

"This building is truly tough. There are no columns in the building at all," said Bob Knakal, chairman of Massey Knakal.

"The building can be used commercially in a variety of ways," said Knakal.
