Western Premium announces discovery of three gold anomalous areas on the Kelian property.VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Company reports that the recent exploration program on its 'Kelian' property in the Kalimantan Gold Belt of Indonesian, consisting of Stage 1 semi-regional geochemical sampling, has resulted in the discovery of three gold anomalous a·nom·a·lous adj. 1. Deviating from the normal or common order, form, or rule. 2. Equivocal, as in classification or nature. areas within the Contract of Work. Within the western part of the Contract area four continuous drainage basins drainage basin: see catchment area. covering an area in excess of 7.0km are anomalous in gold with values up to 0.75 g/t Au being recorded from drainage sampling. Initial work suggests this anomalous area is associated with local doming in a geological setting analogous to the Kelian gold mine (reserves in excess of 6 million ounces gold) situated approximately 40 km to the east. Mr. Stephen Walters, the company's geologist postulates that an underlying altered Sintang Intrusive (common to the major gold deposits in Kalimantan) is the cause of local doming and alluvial al·lu·vi·al adj. Of, relating to, or found in alluvium: alluvial soil; alluvial gold. alluvial Adjective of or relating to alluvium Noun gold within the area. It is proposed to establish a grid over the prospective zone and undertake detailed geological investigation as the next phase of exploration. Additional gold anomalies within the western part of the concession are associated with NNW NNW abbr. north-northwest Noun 1. One of these anomalies occurs over a gravity high thought to represent a Sintang intrusive lying in the subsurface sub·sur·face adj. Of, relating to, or situated in an area beneath a surface, especially the surface of the earth or of a body of water. Adj. 1. . Additional work is continuing in this area. Mr. Stephen Walters, also reports that preliminary interpretation of the Fine Beam Mode Radarsat image of the Contract of Work area, suggests that a number of circular structures at the intersections of cross cutting linaments may be associated with an exposed intrusive complex. The position of this aerial anomaly is in accordance with a gravity high previously identified within the area. With the presence of gold within this feature, having now been established, this becomes a high priority target for more advanced work. Results to date are extremely encouraging and suggest that gold mineralisation on the property remains intact and largely uneroded. The exploration program will resume at the beginning of March 1997.
