Western Atlas Logging Services to purchase Microline inspection technology.HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 1996--Western Atlas Logging Services, a division of Western Atlas Western Atlas was formed in 1987 through the merger of Western Geophysical (owned by Litton Industries) and Dresser Atlas. The resulting company was a joint venture of Litton and Dresser Industries until it was spun off as a publicly traded company in 1994. International Inc., has entered into an agreement with Microline Corp. of Traverse City, Mich., to acquire technology and exclusive marketing rights from Microline relating to magnetic flux leakage Magnetic flux leakage (MFL) is a magnetic method of nondestructive testing that is used to detect corrosion and pitting in steel structures, most commonly pipelines and storage tanks. The basic principle is that a powerful magnet is used to magnetize the steel.
