West Side rezoning gets board's okay.


Manhattan Borough President Borough President (informally BP, or Beep in slang) is an elective office in each of the five boroughs of New York City.

The offices of borough president were created in 1898 with the formation of the City of Greater New York.
, C. Virginia Fields C. Virginia Fields is the former Borough President of Manhattan, elected in 1997 and reelected in 2001. Her term expired in January 2006.

C. (Clara) Virginia Fields was born in Birmingham, Alabama circa 1946 and received her B.A.
 this week presided over the Manhattan Borough Board as it voted in part to support the rezoning of the Hudson Yards.

The board voted unanimously, with one abstention ABSTENTION, French law. This is the tacit renunciation by an heir of a succession Merl. Rep. h.t. , on all three resolutions, allowing for the creation of a re-development zone on the West Side and an extension of the No. 7 Subway subway: see rapid transit.

. But it voted no on one of the resolutions, unless certain issues were addressed.

Fields offered a list of conditions including affordable housing, density, environment/transportation and condemnation concerns, creation of jobs, and the ensuring that minority and women-owned businesses (MWBEs) have an equal opportunity to participate in any and all construction, that were yet to be dealt with.

She also detailed that there be greater transparency in the governance of the Hudson Yards Infrastructure Corporation (HYIC HYIC Hudson Yards Infrastructure Corporation (New York, NY) ). In addition, Fields reiterated that whatever construction occurs should incorporate elements of environmentally responsible or "green" structures.

Fields, who champions the development of the West Side, was integral to the Board reaching a consensus on the resolutions.

"I am vitally aware that we need to develop the West Side of Manhattan," said Fields. "But we cannot in good conscience go forward without raising these principals."

Fields believes, for example, that the HYIC have among its members, representatives from the Borough President's office and Community Boards Community Boards is a community based mediation program, established in 1976, in San Francisco, California, USA. The program utilizes volunteers from from the neighbourhoods of the city, who work with people involved in disagreements toward the end of resolving the dispute,  4 and 5.

"Any re-development impacts directly on the people residing in those areas and also affects all residents of Manhattan and indeed, all New Yorkers."
