West End Natural Soda Brew debuts.

Two former Anheuser-Busch executives have launched a new natural soda, called West End All Natural Soda Brew. According to Ted Kneidel and Michael Glorioso, both formerly of the Anheuser-Busch Beverage Group, West End is targeted at the

"new age" beverage niche.

According to Kneidel and Glorioso, West End is produced by brewing fresh, whole fruit and spices together, and then combining this mash with sparkling water and fructose.

The resulting beverage is primarily clear, the company says, with slight color tints from natural fruit pigmentation. The product will be available initially in four flavors: red raspberry, wild cherry, country peach and lemon-lime kiwi.

Kneidel and Glorioso have formed a new beverage company--West End Products Co.--to market the product. The St. Louis-based company is planning to introduce the product in "key metropolitan areas that have traditionally had good consumer acceptance of the new age beverage category."

Ted Kneidel, president of West End, was formerly vice president and general manager of the Anheuser-Busch Beverage Group, Inc., an Anheuser-Busch subsidiary formed to produce, market and sell non-beer beverage products. Kneidel held executive positions at A-B for 13 years.
