West Coast Premiere of ``Gloria, the Life Of Christ'' Oratorio by Lex de Azevedo at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion December 1.

"Gloria, the Life of Christ," the first of five oratorios composed by Lex See yacc.

De Azevedo, two-time Golden Globe nominee for his musical compositions, is conducting the California Philharmonic Orchestra in this one-time only performance. The 160 voices of the Southern California Mormon Choir, the Millennium Choir and soloists will sing the libretto libretto (ləbrĕt`ō) [Ital.,=little book], the text of an opera or an oratorio. Although a play usually emphasizes an integrated plot, a libretto is most often a loose plot connecting a series of episodes.  created by Peggy de Azevedo from the words of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Isaiah.

"Gloria" is a benefit concert for Ettie Lee Youth & Family Services, now celebrating its 50th year of providing healing help to children and families. Founder Ettie Lee opened the first residential group home in the United States in 1950. Today the non-profit Ettie Lee Youth & Family Services operates nine residential care centers for high-risk boys, a treatment foster family agency, and adoptions, substance abuse treatment and community-based services.

Tickets to "Gloria, the Life of Christ," priced from $20 to $65, are now available at the Pavilion Box Office, from Ticket Master, or from Ettie Lee Youth & Family Services by calling 626/960-4861.

"Gloria" made history earlier this year with its world debut performance inside the old city of Jerusalem at The Citadel, Tower of David The Tower of David is Jerusalem's "citadel", a historical and archaeological site of worldwide importance.

This is a medieval fortress, with later additions. Its towers and ramparts offer splendid views of that part of Jerusalem where Old and New meet, and East meets West.

De Azevedo was musical director for "The Sonny and Cher Show," "Michael Jackson & The Jackson Five" and "The Osmonds." His scores for motion picture and television include the classic "Where the Red Fern Grows" and "The Swan Princess." He received Golden Globe nominations in 1995 for Best Original Score and Best Song for the latter. Several of his movie soundtracks were Gold Records, and he scored over 36 episodes of Bible Stories and American Hero Classics series for Warner-Nest Entertainment. He has served as guest conductor for the London National Philharmonic and other symphony orchestras, and composed over 40 choral works.
